Foresters' Corner
September 2008 As promised, we will continue to share information that we find interesting with our customers, suppliers, and friends. A little over one month ago our insurance agent called and asked when a good time for a customer/employee appreciation cookout would be. Both of our companies, JC Eames Timber Harvesters and Fort Mountain Trucking Company had an accident free year and the insurance folks wanted to thank us. The afternoon of Friday, September 5th, a cookout was held at the garage of Fort Mountain Companies with members of the Acadia Insurance Company present. John Lysy, our Senior Loss Control Representative, was on hand to cook up a batch of steak tips and chicken that was enjoyed by all.

Before our cookout, John Lysy, Jim Nolin, Helen Phillips, and Jim Sievert presented Jeff Eames with a plaque awarding Fort Mountain Companies for Outstanding Achievement in Loss Prevention, Workers Compensation & Automobile. Also, John Lysy presented Dave Mischke and Bob Bolduc each with a gift card for their quick actions on the job that prevented a major accident. Because both Dave and Bob were able to put out a fire on each of the pieces of equipment that they operate they were able to save the landowner from damage to their property and save the company the cost of down time to do major repairs to the machinery.
All members of the crew received a carabineer flashlight from Acadia and a gas card from the company. The timber harvesting crew each received a new logger first aid kit for their equipment.
We want to encourage the crews to continue their impressive safety record. It helps them to remain healthy, the company to remain productive, and our insurance costs low keeping us more competitive as a timber buyer.
